Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

All scientific manuscripts submitted to Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia ad Didacticam Scientiarum Socialium Pertinentia are subject to a peer review process.

Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial assessment to verify its compliance with the journal's aims and scope, formal requirements, and fundamental principles of publication ethics. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's formal requirements or fall outside its scope may be rejected at the editorial screening stage.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial assessment are submitted to a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review procedure. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with recognized expertise in the subject area of the submitted work. In the event of substantially differing review recommendations, the Editorial Board may appoint an additional reviewer.

Reviews are prepared using the journal's official review form. The evaluation includes, in particular:

  • the relevance and originality of the research topic;
  • the consistency between the manuscript's title and its content;
  • the formulation of research problems, conclusions, and the appropriateness of the research methods and techniques;
  • language quality, writing style, and the correct use of scientific terminology;
  • the relevance, currency, and diversity of the literature cited;
  • the overall scientific merit of the manuscript.

Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editorial Board may decide to:

  • accept the manuscript without revisions;
  • accept the manuscript subject to minor revisions;
  • request major revisions and resubmission for further evaluation;
  • reject the manuscript;
  • make another decision where justified by the specific circumstances of the case.

Authors receive the anonymous reviewers' comments together with the Editorial Board's decision and, where applicable, are requested to revise their manuscripts within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be submitted for an additional round of peer review.

The peer review process is conducted in accordance with the principles of impartiality, confidentiality, academic integrity, and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
