Anti-Plagiarism Policy
1. Purpose of the Policy
The purpose of this Anti-Plagiarism Policy is to ensure the highest standards of research integrity and copyright protection by preventing plagiarism and other forms of research misconduct throughout the editorial and publishing process of Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. 2. Scope
This Policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to the journal, regardless of the type of publication, language, or scientific discipline.
3. Definitions
For the purposes of this Policy, research misconduct includes, but is not limited to:
- plagiarism - presenting another person's work, research findings, data, ideas, or parts thereof as one's own without proper acknowledgment;
- self-plagiarism - reusing previously published work without appropriate citation or justification;
- unauthorized use of data, illustrations, tables, photographs, or other copyrighted materials;
- citation manipulation intended to artificially increase citation counts.
4. Verification of Originality
The Editorial Board reserves the right to verify the originality of submitted manuscripts using plagiarism detection software and other appropriate methods of assessing research integrity.
Regardless of the methods applied, the assessment of originality is based on academic judgment and is carried out by the Editorial Board and reviewers. A similarity score alone does not constitute evidence of plagiarism and is always evaluated individually, taking into account proper citation practices, the nature of textual similarities, and the characteristics of the relevant scientific discipline.
5. Procedures in Cases of Suspected Misconduct
Where plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other forms of research misconduct are identified or reasonably suspected, the Editorial Board may:
- request explanations from the author(s);
- require revisions or corrections to the manuscript;
- reject the submitted manuscript;
- retract a published article;
- publish a correction or erratum;
- notify the author's affiliated institution or other competent authorities where warranted by the seriousness of the case.
6. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are required to:
- submit only original work;
- properly acknowledge and cite all sources used;
- obtain any permissions required for the use of copyrighted material;
- disclose any previous publications that may be relevant to assessing the originality of the submitted manuscript.
7. Final Provisions
This Anti-Plagiarism Policy forms an integral part of the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. In matters not regulated by this Policy, the Editorial Board follows applicable copyright legislation, principles of good research practice, and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
