Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
1. Purpose of the Policy
The purpose of this Policy is to establish the principles for the responsible and transparent use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in the preparation, peer review, and editorial processing of scientific publications submitted to Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia ad Didacticam Scientiarum Socialium Pertinentia.
2. Policy for Authors
Authors may use AI tools solely as support in the preparation of their manuscripts, particularly for:
- language editing and proofreading;
- improving the clarity and readability of the text;
- translation of parts of the manuscript;
- technical assistance in organizing and formatting the manuscript.
Authors bear full responsibility for the content of their manuscripts, including the accuracy of the data, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and references, regardless of the extent to which AI tools have been used.
AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors of a publication.
If AI has made a substantial contribution to the preparation of a manuscript (e.g., generating text, creating illustrations or figures, analysing data, or generating computer code), the author must disclose such use in an appropriate statement included in the manuscript.
3. Policy for Reviewers
Reviewers are required to maintain the confidentiality of all materials submitted for peer review.
Reviewers should not upload unpublished manuscripts or any part thereof to publicly accessible AI tools or use AI in any manner that could compromise the confidentiality of the peer-review process or the intellectual property rights of the authors.
4. Policy for the Editorial Board
The Editorial Board may use AI tools solely to support technical and editorial tasks, such as language editing, copyediting, or the formal assessment of manuscripts.
Final decisions regarding the acceptance, revision, rejection, correction, or retraction of manuscripts are made exclusively by members of the Editorial Board and may not be delegated to Artificial Intelligence systems.
5. Final Provisions
This Policy has been developed in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and internationally recognized best practices in scholarly publishing. The Editorial Board reserves the right to amend this Policy in response to technological developments and evolving international standards concerning the use of Artificial Intelligence in academic publishing.
