Abstrakt

The purpose of the article is to present research on the diagnosis of the sense of national identity of young Poles living in Ireland and attending Polish schools (N = 104). The research was carried out according to the diagnostic survey method using the questionnaire technique. A nonparametric chi-square (χ²) test was used to analyse the results. Basing on the research results obtained, it can be concluded that the personal awareness of the identity of surveyed youth is mainly related to the sense of belonging to the Polish nation. All respondents also entertain the sense of belonging to the Irish. The analyses also show that the goals set by the surveyed young people oscillate around the following issues: acquiring professional qualifications, acquiring professional experience, getting a job, purchasing an apartment/house, improving personal or family relations, getting married/having a permanent partner in life.
